the view from my bedroom window this morning. i really didn’t want to get out of bed when i saw the snow on the roofs of the courtyard homes. brrrrr!

the only hospital in all of beijing you can do the required 700RMB health exam for a work permit, located about an hour away from the city center. some bureaucrat is laughing all the way to the bank.
apartment hunting in beijing
i’m sad to say that the beijing i used to know and love is no longer. most of the small alleyways and neighborhoods were demolished for the olympics, so finding an apartment in a ‘local’ area is quite difficult. what remains in the old neighborhoods are gems that look something like this. while the lovely fake flowers and bucket of dirty water look really appealing .. i think i’ll pass.
